On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of People Power, we human rights defenders under the banner of Karapatan salute the swelling ranks of Filipinos calling for the removal of the thieving, murderous and puppet Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo regime.
We put our faith in the Filipino people because they yearn for change and work for it, contrary to the administration’s "people power fatigue" line which is a self-serving rant from those deathly afraid of suffering the same fate as the late dictator Marcos and plunderer Estrada, both ousted by people power.

To those who sincerely think that the two People Power events failed for not bringing about economic progress and social transformation, we remind them that it is not people power that you are tired of but a mere changing of guards that we do not want to happen again. Real people power should lead not just to a change in leadership but to uprooting the problems our semi-colonial, semi-feudal society.
It was no mean feat when Filipinos overthrew a most brutal, thieving and traitorous dictatorship supported for 14 years by US imperialism. Likewise, it was no mean feat to overthrow a mafia boss in Malacañang.
For as long as the government is an institution of greed, corruption and repression, it is still people power that will deliver our nation from the evil GMA regime and we believe that the Filipino people will prevail. ###
